Waterscape for Long Exposure Photography Sample
Dark Photography. Long Exposure (LE) photography is classic photography techniques. The oldest photography techniques has been used since the first photo has been taken. Long Exposure photo has special mood especially for moving object such as cloud and water.
The most important thing in LE is time shutter or how long your photo are taken. It is the first exposure from three exposures that must be considered before we shoot. A basic rule of LE is Length of time exposure are determined by the object. Sea and beach usually need 30 second till 4 minutes of time exposure but waterfall or water with high speed current just need 15 second or less to show its motion fill.
Another genre of Long Exposure is Star Motion and Star photography but it need little different skill with LE photography. Taking waterfall picture does not need long time exposure. 1/16 second until 5 second are enough to make the water looks like cotton. the other suggestion is Using Filter ND-8 or lower. It will keep your photo clear and make your shutter speed just in slow speed not in long time exposure. a simple tips to take waterfalls picture is heavy tripod usage. Heavy tripod keep the camera from any vibration which is caused by water flowing and wind. Although wind shake your tripod in small vibration but this small vibration are able to make your picture blur. Mist means mood. Mist trough the tree to the other tree will make your picture moody and look like telling something. Adding an object in waterfall photography will be good idea. make the object match with the waterfall. As my suggestion, black and white photography is better way to shows the characteristic of your waterfall picture. The last suggestion is "photography is sens not a math, so fill do not just calculate it".
